History of Gigis Cupcakes
How this chain started is a true rag to riches story. Gina ‘Gigi’ Butler had always had strong ties with baking, learning secret family recipes while growing up in California. However, she also had another passion, music. At a young age she moved to Nashville to pursue this dream. She worked at her own cleaning company during the day and would perform during the evening.
After ten years of trying to break into the scene Gigi was cleaning a house one day when her brother phoned her. He told her that he was in New York and he had just waited over two hours to buy a cupcake and to top it all off they were nowhere near as good as hers or his mom’s ones.
This phone call sealed the deal for Gigi and she began approaching banks for loans, all of whom refused her. She ended up taking a huge risk and taking out a huge sum of money on personal credit cards to set up her first store. In 2008, with $33 left in her pocket, Gigi opened the first location in Nashville, Tennessee.
This proved to be the best decision of her life as a mere 8 years later there are over 100 franchised locations across the US with plans to continue the brands expansion. Gigis Cupcakes has set themselves apart from other cupcake chains by dedicating themselves to consistently freshly baked, delicious products and innovative flavors, with absolutely no shortcuts.
