Are you looking for a way to spice up your life? If so, then there’s only one real way to go about it; to test your capacity against one of these top viral spicy food challenges. The best part is, you don’t even need to leave home to do so. This is especially handy if you need to make some trips to the fridge for milk, or worse, to the bathroom for other reasons.

Food eating challenges, and specifically, spicy food challenges, have gained popularity in recent years thanks to the virality of such videos on social media. If someone is crazy enough to try one of these hot chili pepper challenges and film themself doing so, surely that permits us to enjoy the entertainment of watching them suffer through the consequences?

From eating an entire Carolina Reaper pepper, the world’s hottest chili pepper, to consuming spicy hot sauces like they’re going out of stock, there are plenty of ways to test your taste buds and add some (insane) heat to your life.

1. The Carolina Reaper Challenge

The Carolina Reaper Challenge, hosted by Sonoran Spice, is a spicy food challenge where participants are required to eat a whole Carolina Reaper pepper, which is currently considered the world’s hottest chili pepper.

Daredevils submit a video of themselves opening their package and eating one of the peppers, without eating or drinking anything else for 2 minutes. If you complete the challenge, you can upload your video to your social media and tag #sonoranspicereaperchallenge. The team will send you a free t-shirt and drink koozie to mark the momentous occasion.

The challenge is not for the faint of heart, as the pepper is considered the current world record holder for the hottest chili pepper. It’s extremely spicy and can cause a range of physical reactions, including sweating, flushing, stomach cramps, and even vomiting.

This is THE challenge to try if you want to prove your bravery (and stupidity) to your closest mates and strangers on the internet.

2. Spicy Pebbles

If you like the idea of something sweet and spicy, then you’re in luck. The Carolina Reaper Spicy Pebbles challenge might be right up your alley. It was featured on the viral YouTube channel “The TRY Channel” where a group of Irish participants tested their luck.

The sweet and spicy flavor of these candies make them tantalizing but don’t be fooled, the heat does, and will, kick in. The spicy pebbles are available at Sonoran Spice for purchase (if you dare).

3. Hot Ones Hot Sauce Challenge

The popular YouTube channel “First We Feast” hosts a weekly segment called “Hot Ones” where celebrities are put to the test sampling the world’s hottest hot sauces. Enjoy the banter while watching celebrities sweat and struggle their way through a range of hot sauces ranging from mild to extreme.

It’s a great way to expose yourself to some incredible new craft hot sauces that you find in mainstream supermarkets.

The Hot Ones Hot Sauces are available to buy and try for yourself at home. So gather up some daring mates and get them involved in a hilarious and eye-watering experience.

4. Spicy Ramen Noodles

Who doesn’t love a big ol’ bowl of ramen noodles? If you’re game enough to take it to the next level, then why not try the spicy ramen noodle challenge at home which has gone viral in South Korea.

The Bulmawang Devil of Fire Ramen is the new king of the spiciest noodle. Kiss goodbye to plain and boring ramen! The main chili used in the broth is the Carolina Reaper pepper so you know you’re up for a challenge. One packet of these spicy ramen noodles hits up to 14,444 SHU.

5. The World’s Hottest Chip Challenge

Everyone loves a classic potato chip, but few would dare try the world’s hottest chip. Paqui is the brand behind the #OneChipChallenge, and each year, launch their chip challenge to daring customers. If you make it through the rigor of eating their hot and spicy chips, you can claim a spot on their wall of fame.

The seasoning used in the chips featured in last year’s challenge included Carolina Reaper and Scorpion peppers.

You can also pick a cuisine for each day of the week (such as Indian, Mexican, or Asian), talk your kids through the recipe, and teach them about how different cultures prepare their food. If you’re doing Asian cuisine, you could try delicious noodle stir fry recipes, like Lo mein or chow mein, or even get more creative with recipes like Mee Sedap Kai Ma. Depending on your family’s specific preferences, you can determine what recipe will be best. For example, lo mein dishes are soft and saucy, while chow mein is more on the dry, crispier side.
