History Fox’s Pizza Den
This first official location was opened in 1971 in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania. Using a rented store room and a few pieces of old equipment, Jim Fox opened his first store. His first day of sales was an example of things to come. After removing the pizzas from the oven at around 4pm, he went out to sell out of everything by that same evening.
After such a great initial success it wasn’t long before Fox opened his 2nd store in 1973 in nearby Harrison City. This was subsequently followed by a 3rd location in East Pittsburgh. These stores proved as popular as the first and in 1994 franchising of the chain began.
It was in 1986 that Fox’s Pizza Distribution company was formed which supplies all of the franchises with approved products. This allowed for more consistent quality control between the different locations. Throughout their history they have consistently ranked in the top 25 pizza chains in the world.
In 2007 they were recognized as the “Best Pizza Franchise” and have won multiple awards throughout their history verifying the deliciousness of their products. They now have over 300 locations in over 30 states across the US. With such highly ranked products it’s easy to see how they have been such a dominant figure in the industry.
Fox’s Pizza Den Review
When Fox’s Pizza first began they were primarily a delivery based brand. In fact, it’s been said that Jim Fox revolutionized the fast-food industry in his home town of Pittsburgh by the introduction of home delivery. Nowadays some locations have a clean, modern dining area so as to provide the option to eat in, while some solely focus on the home delivery aspect. It would be a good idea to check with your local location before heading down there.
The staff at Fox’s Pizza are always positive, professional and efficient and they’ll go that extra mile to make sure your needs are met. When it comes to their menu, besides their signature dish they also offer: strombolis, salads, sandwiches, hoagies, ‘wedgies’, sides, desserts and drinks. All their menu items are hand prepared and made from only fresh ingredients.
Their main feature comes in a variety of sizes: bambino 4”, small 9”, medium 12”, large 14” and extra-large “16. For the particularly hungry they also offer their ‘Big Daddy’ size which comes in a rectangle that measures 24” by 12”. They have all the traditional toppings you would expect and they’re extra generous: pepperoni, chicken, steak, meatballs, mushrooms, peppers, pineapple, jalapeno peppers and so many more.
Their prices are also extremely affordable with a bambino costing around $3, small and medium cost between $7 to $12, while for a large or extra-large the cost will be about $15 to $20. Fox’s Pizza have been a firm family favorite for over forty years and continue to provide their customers with consistently hot, high quality, mouthwatering meals.
