History of IMO’s Pizza

The chain was started in 1964 in St. Louis by the hardworking husband and wife team of Ed and Margie Imo. After years of Ed collecting their take away meals, the idea came to them both to open up their own pizza parlour, except this one could deliver the goods directly to your house; this in itself was a revolutionary concept and quickly caught the attention of local inhabitants.

They started with one small location, which was only opened during the evenings, and offered either delivery or collect and go options. Word of the high quality, tasty products along with the effective efficiency of the pair soon spread and the business quickly became a family favourite.

Due to their lack of experience, the pair hired a chef to perfect their recipes and provide their customers with truly spectacular products. Their recipe has been perfected over the years, with their fantastic thin crust, packed to the edge toppings and incredible provel cheese; which is a combination of cheddar, Swiss and provolone cheeses

By the time of the mid-1980’s the chain had grown to 30 stores and this is when they also began franchising. There are now over 90 stores mainly located across Missouri, Illinois and Kansas. While many of the stores are independently operated and owned they still adhere to the Imo’s Pizza food philosophy, good pizza and great service, delivered hot and fresh.

IMO’s Pizza Review

The main function of each of this chains location of Imo’s Pizza is to act as a delivery and collection only based business. While some stores have branched out into a small amount of seating, such as breakfast bars and tables and chairs, the majority remain as originally intended. To make ordering more easy and accessible they have a fantastic order system set up on their website.

Imo’s Pizza offers an expansive range of alternatives if you don’t fancy their signature item: salads, pastas, sandwiches, appetizers, desserts and beverages. Each item is prepared fresh in store and are all made from the same top quality ingredients, although, it really is their namesake item that keeps customers coming back for more.

When it comes to their signature item they have an incredibly encompassing range, making sure everyone’s pizza preferences are met. Firstly you can choose which size you’d like, from mini to extra-large, and then select your crust; either their famous thin crust or they also do a thicker version. Once you’ve chosen these you can then choose from an incredible range of toppings that will be fully loaded from edge to edge.

Compared to other similar chains they are slightly more expensive, however, their consistent high quality will not disappoint. A small costs around $10, a large around $15 and an extra-large around $25. Imo’s Pizza have been satisfying their customers cravings for over 40 years, so if you’re looking for pizza that’s just that bit more special, pop by your nearest Imo’s today, or even better, just head online and have it delivered directly to your door.
