When you have a 9-5, it can sometimes be hard to eat right.

You may rush out the door and swing by a fast food place to get a sugary coffee and some unhealthy breakfast food. You may be so beat after work that you just end up getting some fast food again. Not to mention, the snacking that can occur during work.

First, Prepare Ahead of Time

Avoiding fast food can not only be healthier, but it can save you money. Prepare the coffee maker before you go to bed. Pack a healthy lunch and some snacks, and prepare dinner beforehand.

When you pack snacks, don’t pack anything that’s unhealthy. Look for trail mixes, raw honey, whole grain sandwiches, and other foods that will keep you full. Look for foods rich in fiber and protein.

Snack Sensibly

Snacking is a balancing act. If you snack too much, you may be eating too many calories. At the same time, it’s also possible for you to hold off snacking for so long you end up binge eating.

Instead, what you should do is snack every couple hours and space out your meals. This way, you can be able to snack at a reasonable pace.

Get Plenty of Rest

Besides making it harder to focus at work, the lack of sleep can be making you hungry.

Instead, make sure you are getting around 7-9 hours of sleep. Sleep isn’t the be-all, end-all of controlling your appetite but it certainly helps.

Try to relax an hour before bed and don’t do anything to keep you awake. If you have stress, write them down and go to bed with a clear mind. Your brain will thank you for it later. If you still can’t sleep, get out of bed and do something that is relaxing for you.

Avoid Stresses

We tend to eat more when we are stressed. Work can be quite stressful, and you cannot avoid every stress. However, there are some ways to reduce your stress while at work.

One thing you can do is learn to say no. You don’t need to take on every single activity while at work. Another thing you can do? Avoid procrastinating. We are all guilty of this, and it can make our mental health worse in the long run.
