Table Of Contents

Lone Star Steakhouse is a food-chain of casual dining steakhouse restaurants located throughout the United States from Alaska to West Virginia, specializing in Texan style cuisine. Lone Star Steakhouse are known for their savory steaks but also serve fresh seafood, soups and salads. A main feature of the Lone Star Steakhouse Menu Prices is the “Texas Steak Of Mind” where anyone can taste a little bit of Texan culture.

Where it once resembled a “Texas Roadhouse” with peanut shells on the floor and line dancing for show, Lone Star has created its own unique family style Texan ambiance without those traits. While keeping the comfort of daily specials, one should also look for the special knife-and-fork symbol next to menu items if the chef’s special is desired.

History of Lone Star Steakhouse

This 2005-2006 Golden Icon Award winning company opened its doors to the public for the first time in 1989; in the cozy community of Winstem-Salem, North Carolina. From there, they expanded to several other states; ironically none of which were the Lone State. Yet, Plano, Texas did end up being the site where the headquarters were set up. In March of 1992 eight more restaurants opened and by February 2008, Lone Star had 152 locations.

Expanding the company even further, [update] Lone Star’s parent company, Center Cut Hospitality, also runs the Texas Land and Cattle, which are more of a ranch house style than steakhouse. They even expanded globally to Australia between the years of 1993 and 2011, but since then have pulled out of Australia altogether.

However, in 2006, Lone Star Steakhouse entered into a buyout agreement by Lone Star Funds; a private equity firm from Dallas. It sold for $27.35 per share. As a result from the buyout, Lone Star was de-listed from NASDAQ and ended their sponsorship of David Stremme, the #40 Dodge.

Once the buyout was completed and settled, is when Lone Star turned from the familiar “Texas Roadhouse” ambiance to an urban-style; leaving the older restaurants with the tumbleweed fashions of cowboy’s Texas. Now, other than “Texas” being in the name, there isn’t much that resembles the Lone Star States’, Lone Star theme.

Lone Star Steakhouse Review

Unlike their major competitors, Lone Star Steakhouse and Saloon offer a nice classy feel to the original country-themed eateries. Although its history was a bit rocky, Lone Star Steakhouse and Saloon restaurants still offer a taste of theorized Texan food. Their locations lack nothing in abundance which in itself can attest to this chain being a foodie fan favorite.
